Patients’ and dentists’ perceptions of tele-dentistry at the time of COVID-19. A questionnaire-based study

With the significant impact of COVID-19 on dentistry, including the substantial rise in the use of video consultations, myself and consultants at Guy's Hospital set out to investigate dentists’ and patients’ attitudes towards dental video consultations (tele-dentistry) and to identify potential ways to improve the experience.

We conclude that tele-dentistry can be a suitable alternative to increase access to healthcare services to patients and save resources during the pandemic and beyond. Healthcare providers should consider adapting patient pathways and utilising tele-dentistry medicine as an alternative method of consultation.

Redeployment of Dental Core Trainees in the United Kingdom due to Coronavirus Disease 2019

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected professionals in all fields; none more so than medical and dental professionals. As dental core trainees (DCT) at the time working in hospitals, my collegues and I were at the forefront of the crisis and one of the first in line for redeployment. Therefore, we investigated the impact of COVID-19 on the redeployment of DCTs across the UK.
